Omicron Alpha Sigma History

On October 18, 2008 during the 30th Anniversary Celebration of Iota Chi Collegiate Chapter of Western Illinois University several Alumni brothers expressed an interest in renewing their commitment to Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.  They wanted to establish a chapter in the community in which they live.  Upon returning home, several brothers reached out to each other keeping the idea alive to start a new chapter in the south suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, the Great Lake Region.  The initial six brothers (Malcolm McCoy, Jamie Freeman, Aubrey Butler, Jeff Freeman, Kevin Booker and Jamal Phillips) took action.

Seven more brothers who were members of Iota Chi Chapter and living in the south suburbs of Chicago and surrounding area (Vincent Barner, Reginald Crump, Nathalaan Jones, Seneca Jamison, Roy Siler, Mario Robinson, and Michael Crawford) were contacted and in agreement with starting an Alumni Chapter in their community, bringing the total charter members to 13.  They shared a common vision of what Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. meant to them.  On April 4, 2009, Omicron Alpha Sigma Chapter was officially chartered in Matteson, Illinois a part of the Great Lakes Region.  Omicron Alpha Sigma Chapter has been at the forefront of service to the community since its inception.
